Today is National Readathon Day! If your Saturday is as rainy and bleak as mine is then that is a great excuse to make time to read. Think about all the books you’ve loved, all the books you have sitting on your shelf staring at you- waiting for you to read them! Read on! Being funemployed means I have ample time to read and have been taking advantage of that time as evident by my numerous recent posts on books.
Today I’m going to take some time out to read People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. I started it earlier this week and quickly found myself enthralled. I was delighted to find out that she’s married to Tony Horwitz who wrote one of my favorite non-fiction reads, Confederates in the Attic. If the novel is not your genre of choice and you have ever wondered why Southerns are still obsessed with the Civil War, just try this book. I think I’ve read it three times.
I also cleaned out an old box of books from my mom’s attic recently and found some awesome gems. It was almost like looking through a scrapbook, remembering reading those books, where I was when I read them, how I felt about them. Here are a few that I was so excited to see.
I highly recommend them all! But whatever you do make time to read.
